What is LapTouch™?
LapTouch™ is a hardware touch-sensor bar that adds full touchscreen and gesture control—tap, swipe, scroll, pinch-to-zoom, and more—to compatible MacBooks. It attaches magnetically and works through a custom macOS driver developed by NeoSapien, Inc.
How does LapTouch™ work?
LapTouch™ uses advanced infrared light sensing technology positioned along the edge of your MacBook display. The sensor tracks finger movements on the screen surface and translates them into touch and gesture inputs via a proprietary macOS driver.
Which MacBooks are supported?
LapTouch™ is designed for MacBooks with flat-edge displays, including select MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models. Final compatibility lists will be published prior to shipping as driver validation completes.
Is LapTouch™ affiliated with Apple?
No. LapTouch™ is an independent third-party product developed by NeoSapien, Inc. Apple® and MacBook® are trademarks of Apple Inc. and are not affiliated with or endorsed by LapTouch™.
Is LapTouch™ related to Neonode or AirBar®?
LapTouch™ is a private continuation and modernization of optical touch-bar technology originally used in Neonode’s discontinued AirBar® product line. LapTouch™ is independently developed and operated by NeoSapien, Inc. While we collaborate with former AirBar® engineers and staff, we are completely independent of Neonode, Inc.
Does LapTouch™ require software installation?
Yes. LapTouch™ requires installation of a custom macOS driver to enable touch and gesture functionality. The driver is signed and designed specifically for modern macOS versions.
Will LapTouch™ work with future macOS updates?
We are actively developing and maintaining the LapTouch™ driver to support current and future macOS versions. As with all third-party hardware, compatibility depends on Apple system changes, but ongoing updates are part of our roadmap.
Does LapTouch™ support multi-touch gestures?
Yes. LapTouch™ supports common multi-touch gestures such as scrolling, pinch-to-zoom, tap-to-click, and swipe gestures, depending on application support.
Is LapTouch™ permanent or removable?
LapTouch™ is fully removable and non-destructive. It attaches magnetically and connects via USB-C, leaving no residue or permanent modification to your device.
Does LapTouch™ affect display quality or brightness?
No. LapTouch™ sits outside the display area and does not interfere with screen brightness, resolution, or color accuracy.
Is LapTouch™ safe for my MacBook?
Yes. LapTouch™ is designed to meet USB-C electrical specifications and operates within safe power limits. It does not interfere with the internal components of your MacBook.
Is LapTouch™ a touchscreen replacement like an iPad?
No. LapTouch™ enhances your MacBook with touch input while preserving the traditional macOS desktop experience. It is designed for productivity, creativity, and accessibility—not to replace iPadOS.
When will LapTouch™ ship?
Initial production runs are limited. Shipping timelines will be announced following final driver validation and manufacturing readiness. Early supporters will receive priority fulfillment.
Can I pre-order LapTouch™?
Yes. Pre-order opportunities may be offered periodically, including limited early-access programs. Availability and terms will be listed on the website when active.
What is the LapTouch Pre-Order Multiplier (LPM)?
LPM is a utility voucher that can be redeemed toward the purchase of LapTouch™ hardware. It is not an investment, not equity, and does not represent ownership or profit rights.
Does LPM guarantee delivery or returns?
LPM is redeemable only toward eligible LapTouch™ hardware purchases and does not guarantee delivery dates. Full terms and redemption conditions are published separately.
Will LapTouch™ work with external monitors?
LapTouch™ is designed for direct interaction with MacBook displays. External monitor support is not currently included.
Is LapTouch™ suitable for developers and creatives?
Yes. LapTouch™ is particularly useful for designers, developers, artists, and productivity users who want direct screen interaction without sacrificing macOS workflows.
What warranty is included?
LapTouch™ includes a limited hardware warranty. Full warranty terms will be published prior to shipping. Support is based in USA.
